With Frieze Art Fair's newly inaugurated Frieze Masters forcing us to draw parallels between old and new, Crane.tv examines the role, place and meaning of contemporary art through the eyes of five experts. A Curator (Susie Allen), two Artists (Lachlan Goudie and Christopher Gray), a Gallery Manager (Helen Ralli) and a Critic (JJ Charlesworth) all offer their unabashed thoughts and critiques of three seminal pieces at this year's Frieze. First under the spotlight is Asli Cavusoglu's 'Murder in three acts', a real-time performance piece at the junction of art and media, which plays out a presumed crime drama. Next up is former architect Tomás Saraceno's 'Untitled', a spider-web esque installation that explores the boundaries of art, nature and science. Finally we discuss Hans- Peter Feldmann's 'Carton Boxes', a piece that challenges our perception of simplicity and beauty.
