Legend is a word bandied about too freely, but there is no better way to describe musician and political activist Gilberto Gil. Brazilian Gil founded the tropicália music movement in the 1960s and made his mark on the entirety of the country in 2003 when president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva chose him as Brazil's Minister of Culture.
